Thankfull

Tonight at around 10:30 PM I went for a walk on my own to grab a bite to eat after Col had decided to call it a night.  I didn’t have to go very far to hit a night market that we had been to before that sold great wraps or more of a donair type food really.  As I arrived it looked like the young lady had already cleaned her area and was getting ready to call it a night, but she was more than happy to take my late order.  As she was preparing my request for take away I noticed some movement on the floor near to where she was working and as I bent over I saw a young child around three years old laying on a mat that had been placed on the concrete floor.  I smiled  and then pointed to the child and then to mother as if to ask if the child was hers and she nodded yes.  The young child  seemed happy playing with some toys her mother had given her, but I couldn’t help but feel sad that she had to be out so late with her mother as she was trying to make a living for herself and her child.  She handed me my two wraps and I paid her and gave her a much larger tip then I would have normally given, but I felt compelled to leave her with something extra for her trouble and she did not hesitate to show her gratitude as she seemed so very thankful.  As I walked back to the amazing Condo that Col and I are renting during our time here in Chiang Mia I thought about our grand children back home and how blessed they are to have such great parents who love them, a warm and comfortable bed to sleep in, hot water to bath or shower every night and that they will probably never no what it feels like to ever be hungry.  Real hunger….  I thank God that we live in the best country in the world and I am so thankful for all that I have and that all my family has.  God bless you all.

That was such a wonderful story. Sometimes we need to realize how wonderful we do have it here. Thank you for reminding me! Glad you two are having a great time.

We are so blessed. It is so easy to forget what we have and take it for granted. Thank you so much for the reminder, WE have so much to be thankful for.
